Понякога да си представим картини, емоции, това да „чуем“ звуци или думи, които ни се иска да чуем може да допринесе много за това да променим нагласата си.
Мозъкът обработва сигналите, които получава отвън през петте основни сетива – зрение, слух, обоняние, допир и вкус. Те могат да бъдат реални (нещо, което ни се случва в действителност) или въображаеми (нещо, което искаме да предизвикаме да ни се случи). Вероятно сте чували историята за лимона: „Представете си, че сте у дома. Отивате до хладилника в кухнята, отваряте го, дърпате шкафчето за съхранение на плодове и зеленчуци. Там виждате лимон. Взимате го, затваряте шкафчето, след това и вратата на хладилника. Отивате до кухненския плот, взимате дъска за рязане и нож. Разрязвате лимона на две, след което взимате едната половинка, разрязвате я на още две парчета. Взимате сочна четвъртинка от лимона, слагате я в устата си и изстисквате сока на лимона със зъби.“ Усетихте ли повече слюнка в устата си? Това се случва на повечето хора. На мозъка му е достатъчно да зададете сценария и той да създаде правилните усещания на база минал опит.
Мозъкът дава наименование на случващото се около нас, на емоциите, които изпитваме и прави асоциации. Мислим за нещо, после ни идва мисъл за предишната мисъл, и след това нова за предходната, която обогатяваме още и още. Така се създават връзки между емоции/мисли, които често остават в несъзнаваното. Тези повтарящи се мисли формират емоцията ни и това може да бъде както в наша полза, така и в наш ущърб, в зависимост от това какво сме накарали мозъкът да мисли за случващото се.
Много често може да се случи начинът, по който възприемаме една ситуация да е различен от реалността. Тя е „символично“ в главата ни, и е въпрос на интерпретация как ще я възприемем. Ако имаме неприятен спомен от дадено събитие, може да опитаме да си спомним нещо хубаво, свързано със същото събитие, за да изтласкаме негативното. Разбира се мозъкът има нужда от тренировки и повторения, за да се справите успешно със задачи като тази и в последствие да прилагате наученото и за други ситуации. Също така е необходимо да се настроите така, че фокусът ви да е в правилната посока – върху позитивното, а не върху негативното.
Вземете, например, нещо, което ви разгневява. След това помислете за прошка спрямо нещото или човекът, който ви гневи. Вземете същият този гняв и го приемете с любов. Добавете и щипка спокойствие в ситуацията. За коя емоция мислите повече в момента?
